Aversive methods are no longer accepted

Something very big has happened in the dog training world!

AVSAB or American Veterinary Society of Animal Behaviour is what experts refer to whenever they talk about animal behaviour in science. They are the biggest, most reliable and accepted source there is. Every recommendation made by a vet in the US should always come from AVSAB.

The accepted standard for many years was using Positive reinforcement to whatever extent was possible and then follow with Aversive methods. Trainers using aversives didn't violate any recommendation whether they used electric collars, prong collars, pinch collars etc. But now that has changed.

AVSAB has a new standard: Only reward-based training methods are now to be used for all dog training, including the treatment of behavior problems.
